10:30 From Sandbox to Portal: A Journey for GSK Discovery
As the Discovery organization changed at GSK it became clear that we needed to consolidate intranet communications for business partners in the therapeutic areas. A plethora of departmental websites and applications existed which had not maintained the pace of change in the business and lacked a connection to the discovery process. This coincided with a GSK strategy to change our communication applications to Microsoft products. We undertook the development of a portal to connect information, data, experts and products in an easily navigable environment. The resulting portal is our face to the therapeutic groups and continues to evolve adding new services and experts by the month.
Stephen Gardiner, Portfolio Data Manager -- GSK
Jane Miller, Operations & Communications Manager -- GSK

This presentation demonstrates how GSRM utilized teamsites to align GSRM functional areas as well as provide a global customer focus approach to the company.

2:00 Treating Acute SharePoint Viruses: Formalizing SharePoint Governance
Like a virus, SharePoint sites can quickly multiply out of control if standards and governance are not put into place quickly. This is what happened at Lilly when SharePoint was implemented in 2006 and the result was a proliferation of collaboration sites that did not utilize SharePoint efficiently. In July 2010, Lilly formed a team to address these issues. In this presentation, we will share our lessons learned and evolving transformational roadmap.
